After struggling with depression and obsessive thoughts for over two years, I opted for 5-HTP after stopping antidepressants. At first, I experienced nausea and worsening of my depression but learned to adjust my dosage by splitting capsules. With time, my mood stabilised, and obsessive thoughts lessened. Now, I take a whole capsule daily under the tongue and have combined it with other supplements. My overall condition is markedly improved, although it doesn't induce extreme happiness — more of a calm state.

I didn’t feel any effect from the supplement, so I gave it to a friend. Unfortunately, she experienced severe kidney pain, and further issues followed. I advise those with kidney problems to avoid this supplement altogether.

I experienced insomnia, nausea, and vomiting while taking this drug. Initially, I had plenty of energy, but insomnia set in, affecting my sleep routine despite various dosing times. Interestingly, I had one restful night where I slept for 12 hours without waking. However, I struggled with muscle pain, headaches, and digestive issues when I took it on an empty stomach. Although I did notice a reduction in my appetite, I can't wholeheartedly recommend it due to the many side effects I experienced, including concerns over safety based on available data.

Stomach issues encountered
My husband found that his appetite decreased, but after I took it on an empty stomach, I suffered intense stomach pain, as if a kidney stone were pressing against my intestines, leading to a laxative effect. My appetite remained unchanged, and I wonder if a smaller dose might work better for me.
